I remember the lights.

I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment.

I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he’d made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered.

But then everything changed.

He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process.

I remember the lights.

The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue.

They symbolized everything I endured that summer.

And everything I would never face again.

Life doesn’t always turn out the way we expect it to. For Natalie – the end of her time in high school should be a celebration. A stepping stone for what comes next with your hopes and dreams. Instead of the jubilation, Natalie is experiencing heartache. Her boyfriend just broke up with her. Something that broke her heart. Then Natalie is forced to face the fact that the future her family wants her to follow is not what she wants to do. So many factors are pushing Natalie to face the fact that she is unhappy with the life she currently leads.

With so much uncertainty, Natalie knows one thing for sure. She is not happy with her outward appearance. A stark realization that leads her to decide to seek the help of a personal trainer. Heading to the country club to remedy this situation, Natalie quickly discovers that the trainer is none other than Rhodes. This rugged and handsome guy is a blast from the past. A loner back in high school that drew Natalie’s attention, along with most of the female students. Although Rhodes is older than Natalie, the attraction that she feels for him is instantly ignited.

Natalie jumps headfirst into her workouts with Rhodes. Letting her desire to be thin overtake everything else. Rhodes helps Natalie tackle what she dislikes in her outward appearance, but also shows her that she has to be comfortable in her own skin. Something that is slow to come to Natalie. During all of their time together, Natalie tries to pick up on signals from Rhodes. One minute he is cold, then in another he seems to care deeply for his client. Their love-hate relationship fuels the sparks of something more. Making Natalie strive to learn more about the man who is staring to take over her thoughts day and night.

As their time together begins to shed light into Rhodes past, Natalie learns more about the life that Rhodes lived behind closed doors. What neither could predict what just how intertwined their paths grow. Leaving both wondering where a romance would lead? Giving in to their desires, Natalie and Rhodes are about to learn that some secrets run deeper than either could ever imagine.

What an amazingly realistic romance. Weightless chronicles the life that Natalie finds herself loathing after high school. A fact that many face. Her weight never seemed to bother her until a set of circumstances causes her rose colored glasses to fall off. The way Natalie took charge of her weight and life in general will leave you empathizing with her struggles. Some of her heartache will even garner a tear or two.

Then there is Rhodes. Who knew that such a handsome and standoffish trainer could make or break a story?? With a past that was riddled with tragedy, Rhodes leaves you desperately hoping that he finds a true peace in his heart. Something that Natalie desperately wants to provide. These two characters lead readers on and emotional and angst filled journey. One that will surprise you when all of the cards are laid out. Personally – I devoured this book in one sitting. I simple had to know where the future would lead Natalie and Rhodes. Kandi Steiner has written a compelling story that should find its way on your reader immediately!!

About Kandi Steiner

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
