I fell for Connor Drake. I didn’t want to; I fought against it, but I fell in love with him anyway. With his words. With his poetry. With him. The gentleness and beauty of his soul that speaks directly to mine. He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow.
I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way, and yet there’s electricity in the air between us. The thorny barbs Weston wraps around himself can’t keep me away.
But the more time I spend with these men, the more tangled and confused my emotions become. When they both sign up for the Army Reserves during a time of increasing strife in the Middle East, I fear I’ll never unravel my own heart that sometimes feels as if it will tear straight down the middle…for both of them.

We never know when that one person that sets the precedent in our life will come along. For Weston – there was a monumental occurrence in his childhood that set a path towards interacting with that one person.
Writing was a huge part of Weston’s life. That talent led Weston to win a scholarship to a private school in the city. From the very first day, Weston knew that he was different that the other kids. His upbringing a source of ‘nose turning’ and ridicule. Then Connor walked into Weston’s life. In spite of their varied backgrounds, the two became instant friends. A friendship that would carry the two throughout their middle and high school years.
The friendship that Connor and Weston shared also extended to their families. Connor’s parents adored Weston that the influence that he held on Connor’s life. They extended their heartfelt appreciation to Weston’s entire family as well. Gifting them with much needed necessities in spite of their reluctance. Weston knows that he can never repay the Drake family for their kindness, but they only ask Weston to keep Connor under his watchful eye.
The duo remains inseparable even through their college years. Weston earning a scholarship, and Connor tagging along knowing full well he could not survive the rigors of his classes without Weston’s help. A friendship that has never been tested until the moment that Autumn walked into their lives. Both find Autumn to possess everything they want in a female. For Weston – it’s the quirky humor, beautiful looks, and similarities to his own that hold his attention. For Connor – Autumn is everything that Connor believes his parents would want for him in a girlfriend.
After Connor expresses his interest in Autumn, Weston takes a step back. Never sharing with Autumn his feelings or the fact that he helps Connor with the romantic notions that he rarely possesses. Everything should have been easy from that point on….right? Nothing is the way it should be for the trio. Leaving Connor to take a step in a direction that would alter each of their lives. No one knows what the future holds, but the trio are linked together through the good and the bad. Life will come crashing around the three in ways that none of them could expect.
Oh my word….talk about an original storyline!! Bring Down The Stars is nothing like you could imagine. I know I went into this story ‘blind’….deciding not to even read the blurb for the book. Let me tell you…it was AMAZING not having an inkling of an idea on what would happen for the characters.
Scott does an amazing job detailing a friendship forged for two guys from opposite sides of the spectrum. Each living a life that the other could only dream about. Their friendship has spanned years. Bringing the duo as close and two friends could possibly become. Then a female that captures their attention will change the dynamic duo on ways that you cannot predict. Their futures so intertwined that you will be desperate to uncover more. A love triangle….but then again…it’s not!!
What I can tell you is I absolutely devoured this book!! Autumn, Weston, and Connor were absolutely captivating characters. Each brining their own personality and nuance to the book. Adding more fuel to the fire for what is to come. This book is a duet…so it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it did not make the book ‘less’ by doing so. I cannot wait to uncover what happens next. This trio has me hooked and I will be (not so) patiently waiting for what we discover in the next book!!
