Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.
When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?
Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.
Fleeing small town life was the top of Roxie’s list of things to do. Becoming a successful chef the driving force behind her obsession. Now – a fleeting phone call has everything turned upside down in Roxie’s life. A request from her mother to run the family diner for the summer. Although Roxie hesitates because returning to small town life is the last thing she wants to do, a trip to the valley soon becomes a reality.
While settling in to the routine of the diner, Roxie smacks head first into the guy delivering fresh produce. Leo is handsome, charming, and has the most amazing eyes. Something that drives Roxie to take a second look. As the ‘rich guy’ that runs a successful farm down the road, Leo has no plans to leave the valley. That works perfect for Roxie who is only interested in a quick summer fling. Sounds perfect…right? Well….it was perfect until that spark that ignited between the two flares to life with a vengeance. A whirlwind that goes far beyond a summer fling.
Oh….I loved Roxie and Leo. Two battered souls that find an instant spark and enjoy every moment of their time together. It’s a tale of finding love where you least expect it, and just how much life sometimes has a plan all its own. Leo is seriously one hot farmer!! Everything about him just screams ‘pack your things and head to the farm’. Then there is Roxie….a stubborn gal that clearly wants to spread her wings and escape the confines of small town life. Two characters that clearly are full of dreams, downfalls, and hold hearts full of love.
After reading Wallbanger …. I became spoiled to Alice Clayton’s humorous writing style. Nuts has seriously become my very favorite Clayton book to date! Leo and Roxie are anything but your ordinary couple. Grab NUTS and experience all the Hudson Valley has to offer. I promise you will enjoy every nut-filled moment!!
