The searing chronicles of human and synthetic life following a future chemical-nuclear world war. An artificial intelligence will sentence to death all humans incapable of authentic emotion. Within a military bunker are 70 survivors who face execution by a fabricated being. A soldier with a dark past must come to terms with a horrible truth. One woman's lustful choice may have fatal consequences. This is the beginning of mankind's end.

So it wasn’t until I was finished reading this novella that I realized it was set after a series of books.  That definitely clears some stuff up, like who is Sophia, why is she such a bitch, what is a synthetic Being, and what did Logan do to get stuck in that hole.   Now if you had not read the series preceding this novella, you know like me, it is not the of the world, Oh wait…  I think that it might actually be the end of the world.

Anywho, Logan is this man who is in charge of the soldiers who are in charge of making sure that the last humans left on earth are safe and not being attacked by… Other last humans.  So one would assume that Logan is in charge of their home away from home, but sadly that position is taken by a bitch and I mean with a capital B of a computer named Sophia who has decided that it is her way or the highway, which really means being skinned alive by her buddy a synthetic being.  So why does she hate everyone, she doesn’t, she only hates those who are missing a very specific gene in their DNA that allows for authentic emotion.  Yup you heard that right, a computer is in charge of deciding who feels and who can’t feel.

Sophia gave a percentage of how many people can feel versus how many people who are lacking this gene and I wonder if it was real, how many people in the United States, the world, or in just one jail would be unable to feel human emotions.  Because apparently it should be alot.

I LOVED this novella, and I am going to get the rest of them, and maybe the series preceding the death bunker from hell.  It has no sex, well he talks about sex blatantly but does not get into the dirty with anyone.  It was only 16 pages in PDF form and I was just getting into the heat of what Logan was thinking, and that strange voice when BAM story ends, and it may end end, not just end until another book.  It had that kind of ending that made me want to hit something because I want more, and damn I love those type of books.
