ONLY ONE WOMAN CAN SAVE VAMP CITY
One of the few humans who managed to escape the deadly twilight world of Vamp City, Quinn Lennox vows to never return. But the vampires want her back, for only she has the power to renew the magic of their crumbling world--and free the vampires trapped within.
When the handsome, dangerous, and all too seductive Arturo Mazza comes for her, Quinn knows she can never trust him after the betrayal she suffered at his hands. But with her beloved brother's fate hanging in the balance, and her own power beginning to emerge, she chooses to risk all on yet another perilous journey back to Vamp City. And though she tries to deny it, her heart begins to hold hope that even a ruthless vampire can learn the meaning of true love….
The second book in the Vamp City series by Pamela Palmer did not disappoint. We pick up about a month after Quinn and her brother get out of Vamp City, thanks to the dark and untrustworthy – yet sexy as hell – Arturo. A series of events bring both Quinn and Zack back to Vamp City, and they are forced to work with, and trust Arturo who is determined to earn Quinn’s trust.
Arturo regrets several of the choices he made in their earlier interactions and seeing him try to make things right, and peeking into his inner thoughts was a lot of fun for me. Even with all the underhanded things he did in A Blood Seduction, I wanted to love him and trust him implicitly. He is a fabulous hero, and the way Palmer writes him, with his facial expressions, and smoldering looks, makes me want to put my life on the line just to be with him.
Quinn, understandably, has some issues working with Arturo. But I think she started trusting him a bit too soon, although that may be because he really is the only person/vampire she knows in V.C. and he says he is going to help her and protect her, and to get her mission accomplished she has to rely on others. But in her defense, she doesn’t just fall back into bed with him. In her situation I probably would have! He is a pretty sexy beast. She is also a lot more confident, which makes sense having gone through what she has. I liked her a lot more in A Kiss of Blood than in A Blood Seduction.
Overall, this is a great follow-up to a great book, and I very much look forward to future installments in the Vamp City series from Ms. Palmer.
